The Eighth Day of Creation (2006)

Horace Freeland Judson
This is a marvelous book. Judson’s unique creation explores not only the major scientific milestones in the history of molecular biology, but also the detailed story and scientific processes behind them.

Judson scatters generously quotes from his interviews with the major players in these discoveries – these types of additions add a human touch to the history and conveys the thrill of biological research. It’s packed full of riveting stories that lead to a much deeper understanding of the genius and hard work responsible for the advances in the field up to today.

Be forewarned, though. The background biology explained in this book may be difficult to understand for those without college-level biology classes, or at least a very avid appreciation for science.
